Matt Snider

Matt is a Director with a national consulting firm and provides cybersecurity consulting services to companies regarding their security risk management, security organization and leadership, security operations, and strategic security program development. Prior to his current role, Matt built and led the information security consulting practice for 9 years at a successful Texas-based security consultancy firm. In that role, Matt was responsible for designing, selling, and delivering a broad range of information security consulting services, from healthcare risk assessment to penetration testing. During his tenure Matt was responsible for leading all aspects of the security consulting practice, from hiring to performance management, to sales, to offering development, including performing consulting work on behalf of strategic clients.
Matt has over 20 years of hands-on security and consulting experience and has performed assessments and audits ranging from SOC 1, SOC 2, NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, MARS-E, CSA CAIQ, CIS Critical Security Controls, and PCI DSS for the US DoD, DVA, DoJ, and some of the largest state governmental organizations in Texas. Matt also spent 6 years implementing HIPAA for a large regional healthcare system. In addition, Matt has direct experience with emerging tech (web3) and has performed security assessments based on less common standards including Cryptocurrency Security Standard (CCSS), OWASP SAMM, OWASP ASVS, and Voluntary Voting System Guidelines (VVSG) 2.0. Finally, Matt has distinguished himself in the security industry as a volunteer for organizations including ISC2, CSA, OWASP, and ISACA, where he served on the CISA Certification Board and wrote hundreds of CISA exam questions. Matt also organized and ran the Austin Security Professionals Happy Hour, a security networking event, for several years. Matt founded an ISSA chapter in Lansing, MI and served as a core committee member for the OWASP LASCON conference in Austin, TX for approximately 5 years.
